Jacob Hashimoto was born in 1973 living in New York and Verona. Jacob cuts Hashimoto rice paper into small shapes and lines forms the delicate frames wood, which gives the fishing line and black ties long wooden pegs at the top and bottom of the rectangular, wall waterfalls as curtains. The pins are spaced evenly from side to side across the top and bottom of the piece.
Ties artist six layers around the superposition of the shapes in each ear, creating a dense, multi kaleidoscopic field in which the given form can be visible or hidden, depending on the angle of vision. The hanging appears to move as we walk past. But is it a sculpture or a painting? Where is the figure? Where is the floor?
Hashimoto show entitled "Skip home skitter rebound travel vault – and other attempts to escape" opened at Rhona Chicago Hoffman Gallery in mid-November, but closed early when everything is sold. The show included a piece of roof along with seven pieces of wall, built of elements such as, but with different content.
Slip into steam could almost be be a landscape. Measuring five feet high and four feet wide by 7.5 inches deep, consists of the ovals of paper, each about four inches width, which are mounted X-shaped frames and suspended from 13 wooden pegs at the top and 13 below. White and blue oval, which suggests the clouds and sky, make up half upper sliding into steam, while darker ovals in the bottom half could be rocks, soil or vegetation. The artist collages sliced long green paper like grass in some ovals and put fancy decorative designs on others. When the viewer walks, they lean to surprise and amuse.
Face Pain in the Ice Cream Social measures eight square meters and employs hexagonal shapes with a great folly of the designs. Dense, dark above and light below, this piece seems to shine, the bubble up, and move in three dimensions, but never busy, because the artist alternates decorated and plain white hexagons, in the face of the work and its layers. Hashimoto began making wooden frames of small sticks, tie them with string, and placing rice paper transparent to them. If he wants color or design, paint collages in paper form – nothing. When a form frame is ready, dip in acrylic resin for strength. After create a large inventory of these elements, select the forms of different size and design, and chains of them in the nylon line, employing as it does not stretch. Now is ready to tie the strings to the pegs. Hashimoto also showed Super Abundant Atmosphere II, a maximum of work suspended done so pale that suggest that rolling clouds. Apparently, one of the "attempts to escape" in the title of the show, this work brought sky inside and almost seemed to point to levitate the gallery.
